Cardiff in 2027: Every Major Event Confirmed So Far

2027 is an unusual year for Cardiff, and it breaks in the city's favour. Rugby is quieter than normal — Wales have only two home Six Nations matches, and there are no autumn internationals at all because the Rugby World Cup is in Australia from 1 October to 13 November. Summer more than makes up for it.

This page tracks what is actually confirmed, and is updated as announcements land. Anything not yet officially announced is labelled as expected rather than presented as fact.

Key dates

Rugby: two home games, and one of them is England

Wales play just two home Six Nations fixtures in 2027. Ireland come to the Principality Stadium on Saturday 20 February, and England on Saturday 6 March. The Scotland fixture is away at Murrayfield — some listings sites have this wrong, so check before booking anything.

England at home is comfortably the busiest day in Cardiff's calendar. The city centre fills from late morning, Westgate Street closes to traffic, and hotel prices roughly double. If you are travelling in, book accommodation months ahead rather than weeks.

There are no autumn internationals in Cardiff in November 2027, because the Rugby World Cup runs in Australia from 1 October to 13 November. That is roughly three stadium sell-outs the city would normally have and won't.

The Tour de France comes to Cardiff

Stage 3 of the 2027 Tour de France finishes in Cardiff on Sunday 4 July, arriving from Welshpool. It is the final British stage before the race crosses to the continent.

This is free to watch, which makes it unlike almost everything else in this list — there is no ticket to buy and no allocation to miss. What matters instead is where you stand, when roads close, and how you get in and out. The detailed route and road closures are normally published a few months ahead.

Summer concerts: the part nobody has announced yet

Cardiff now runs two outdoor concert series across the summer. Blackweir Live takes over Blackweir Fields in Bute Park — 2026 drew around 175,000 people across five nights — and Depot Live programmes a long run of shows inside Cardiff Castle, which in 2026 was its biggest year yet at 24 nights.

Both are confirmed to return in 2027 but neither has announced a line-up. Based on the last two cycles, expect first headliner announcements between November 2026 and February 2027, with on-sales following within days.

As of writing, Bocelli on 8 May is the only 2027 Principality Stadium concert announced. Cardiff usually lands one to three stadium shows a summer and they are typically announced between September and February.

Getting around on a big event day

Cardiff Central is a five-minute walk from the Principality Stadium, which is why the city works so well for stadium events — and why the station is the pinch point. On major match days queuing systems operate after the final whistle and trains are ticket-only in one direction.

Driving into the city centre on a stadium day is a poor idea; the streets immediately around the ground close entirely. Park-and-ride and pre-booked car parks further out are far less painful than hunting for a space.
