Stage 3 of the 2027 Tour de France finishes in Cardiff on Sunday 4 July, having started in Welshpool. It is the final stage on British roads before the race moves to the continent.
Because it is free to watch, planning is different from a ticketed event: there is nothing to buy and nothing to miss out on, but where you stand and when you arrive matter a great deal. This page is deliberately conservative — the detailed route and road closures have not been published yet, and we will not invent them.
The Grand Départ takes place in Britain, and Stage 3 runs from Welshpool to a finish in Cardiff on Sunday 4 July 2027. The finish location within the city, the exact route into Cardiff, and the timings have not been published.

A road stage passes any given point quickly, so the finish area is where the day actually happens: the closing kilometres, the finish straight and the podium. It is also where crowds are deepest and where barriers go up earliest.
If you want space rather than spectacle, a point further out on the run-in gives you a longer view of the race approaching and far smaller crowds. If you want the finish, arrive hours early.
Cardiff Central is in the middle of the city and within walking distance of most of it, which makes the train the obvious choice on a day when large parts of the road network will be shut. Services from Bristol, Newport and Swansea are frequent, and Sunday timetables are thinner than weekdays — check before assuming a late train home.
Driving is the difficult option. Beyond the closed route itself, roads feeding into the city fill early, and the closures typically stay in place for a while after the race has passed for clean-up and barrier removal. If you must drive, park well outside the centre and walk or take the train in.
Sunday 4 July 2027 falls in what is already Cardiff's busiest month. Accommodation for a Tour finish tends to move early, particularly once the route detail is published and the day becomes concrete for people travelling in.
